The Art of Spiritual Direction
The Art of Spiritual Direction (ASD) is a three year program for individuals who discern in themselves a call to the ministry of spiritual direction. It provides a holistic curriculum which integrates theology, spirituality, skills development, psychology, Scripture and supervision in the art of spiritual direction. ASD brochure.
The Center for Spiritual Development and Loyola Marymount University offer a joint Certificate in the Art of Spiritual Direction. Successful completion of the three-year program results in receipt of the professional ministry credential and continuing education units of specialized or upper-level ministry studies. Students who complete the course are eligible to receive 6 credits towards a Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies with an emphasis in Spiritual Direction pending approval of LMU’s Department of Theological Studies.

Presented by: Margaret Scharf, OP
This NEW PROGRAM is open to any practicing spiritual director who would be interested in ministering to other directors as their supervisor. The week consists of input on the nature of the ministry, its use as a tool for the director’s growth, and practical application through the use of experiences brought to the classes by participants. Participants live on campus, though day commuters are accepted.
SOURCE SYMPOSIUM 2011
Sunday, Aug.14, 5:45 p.m. – Saturday, Aug.20, 2011, 10:00 a.m.
This NEW PROGRAM is being offered as a result of requests from experienced spiritual directors who are looking for conversation and shared experience with peers who have been practicing spiritual directors for at least 15 years. There are programs available for initial formation of directors, but what about people who are, in the words of Janet Ruffing, “beyond the beginnings”? The days will be structured with prayer, input on a topic to get the conversation started, reflection, and sharing. Participants live on campus, though day commuters are accepted.
